It was the same gerudo woman’s spirit that he had met before in Hyrule Field. Link grimaced, angry at the mere site of her. “Don’t get so angry Link, unless its trouble you want.” “Saria…,” Link mumbled. Link paused for a second and then stared at the spirit. “…Where is Saria?!” Link yelled. “Don’t be so hasty now,” the spirit retorted. “You will find out in due time. As for now, however, I think its time you met a friend of mine.” The spirit clapped her hands and a hideous monster emerged from a nearby tree in the meadow. Its giant claws hovered over Link, waiting to strike. It had a giant eye that gazed at Link, piercing into its mind. Link began to remember more. The monster was remnant for Gohma that he had fought to save the Great Deku Tree from death. “I believe you remember Gohma, but don’t worry, this isn’t him,” the spirit explained. Although he is of the same parasitic species that infected the Great Deku Tree, just make sure he doesn’t do the same to you. Attack, young beast!” The monster obeyed the spirit and began an attack on Link. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” the spirit said with a chuckle. It then vanished into the air. Link stood in battle position with his shield up and his sword drawn. The large monster lunged toward Link, but the hylian shield deflected its strike. Link put his sword back it its sheath and drew out his bow. He loaded it with an arrow and shot straight into the monsters eye. The monster was stunned, and staggered to the ground. Link drew his sword and sliced at the monster’s eye several times. The monster screamed in pain the fell to the ground. It’s body deteriorated as blue flames surrounded it. It eventually dissolved into nothing. Link felt a sudden burst of energy as he defeated the monster. A red light surrounded him and he was instantly replenished. He put his sword back in its sheath and looked around the meadow. Link looked at a small stump that lay before the Forest Temple’s broken steps. He looked closer at it, and remembered when Saria had taught him a song on the day he had left for Hyrule Castle. He noticed that something was engraved in the back of the stump. It was a melody of notes. He took out his Ocarina and played the tune. He was soothed the forest melody of Saria’s Song. He could hear her voice from far away. It whispered to him ever so softly. “g-ganon…control…sacred realm…d-darunia knows-s…” The voice seemed restrained and almost in pain. He understood that he needed to see Darunia, the sage of the fire temple, to find out more about Saria’s disappearance. Maybe he would even find more about the spirits that had attacked him. So Link headed for Death Mountain and Goron City. Fanfiction Main The Dungeon Zelda Flaw All material in this site created by me belongs to The Hylian Cavern.
