The Halloween Foosball Tournament website was officially "relaunched" just under a week ago and already the site has been swarmed by visitors. The HFT website is up and running 365 days a year, but Latest News updates, and the Virtual Tournaments and things of that nature have always been more or less restricted to October. The Halloween Foosball Committee sent out an email on October 25th, inviting all former HFT competitors to come to the website and see the updates, and the people have come. The counter on the main index page is quickly approaching 1,000 visitors.
Tonight, the Boston Red Sox will take the field against the Oakland Athletics in Game One of their American League Division Series showdown. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:06 PM Eastern. Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez will oppose A's starter, Tim Hudson. The Halloween Foosball Tournament proudly supports the Boston Red Sox throughout their entire playoff run, which many hope will come to a conclusion on the same night as the Tournament. October 25th would be Game Six of the World Series, although if the Red Sox sweep, the HFT would happy with that result as well.
James Ostis made his triumphant return to Showcase Cinemas last weekend, and wasted no time in requesting October 25th off. Steve and Corey still have scheduling conflicts that must be resolved with the Boys' Club. Jim says that unless someone offered him tickets to Game Six of a Red Sox World Series, he has nothing he'd rather be doing on October 25th than winning a HFT championship to go along with the Red Sox winning the World Series.
The Virtual Halloween Foosball Tournament and the Celebrity Tournament are already up and running and this year's tournaments are certainly living up to the legacy of past tourneys. At press time, 12 people had voted in the Celebrity Tournament, while just a few less have taken part in the VHFT. The exact dates of when the first round will end is not known at this point, however both will take place at similar times. Patrick Casserly was among the missing at last year's tournament, however he is going to make an effort to correct that error this year. Pat last competed in a tournament in 2001, and although he missed the 2000 tournament, Pat was in attendance at every single HFT before last year's. A member of the Mister Cyrs, Pat told his friend and political rival, Jim that he would make every effort possible to attend.
Gina Ouellette has asked the Halloween Foosball Committee to consider lifting the ban imposed on her due to her actions at the 2001 Tournament. Gina was banned from using the video camera at the 2002 HFT because in the tournament a year before she did an awful job taping the Big Game and also lied about Jim's desire to have her be the game's video taper. The ban was to last for one year, but Gina has asked the Committee to confirm that fact. The most likely scenario is that Gina's overarching ban will be lifted, but the ban from taping the football game will be permanent.
