INFORMATION
COUNTRY: Germany OTHER INFO: Based on the Argento cut but beefed up to 156 minutes with every single scene from every cut included. SUMMARY: Here we go: picture is standard, showing real signs of age. It is presented in what I believe is the correct theatrical ratio - 1.66:1 - which is nice as this is how Romero originally intended audiences to see it. However, the disc is non-anamorphic which is a real shame as a lot of clarity is lost when it's blown up on a widescreen tv set. Sound is identical to every other DVD, the basic mono soundtrack. It's in German language only, which is a real downer as it's the longest cut of Dawn known to man, and I'm sure many English-speaking fans would love to see this long cut. However, more minutes doesn't mean a better film: in this case it loses a lot of pace and really is overly long. Extras wise, there are none. Not even a trailer. A pityful disc that would be better suited to frisbee comeptitions than home entertainment. OVERALL: 1 out of 5 |
