Ode to the female fae

The female fae are whimsical

They're musical and mystical

They cause the birds to sing

They bring on the buds of spring.

Their songs cause yearning hearts to meet

Human ears cannot fathom a sound so sweet

Whenever they flutter by

Babes in arms cease to cry.

They love to travel by firefly light

They kiss the flowers good night

They tuck the birds into their nests

They'll greet the owls before they rest.

From twilight til the break of day

They flutter through both village and quay

They pay a visit to the lonely moor

Checking every opened door.
