New River Gorge Area in W. Virginia is a beautiful area to visit. Not only is
there great hiking and scenery, occasionally you can see a train or two. These photos
are from our vacation in Oct. 2001 and include photos from Hawk's Nest and historic
Thurmond.

Oakland, MD isn't too far from WV. We stopped out for a few snowy days January
6-9, 2002. As an aside, we actually saw a couple of trains while visiting state parks
in WV and MD. We stayed at a cabin in Herrington Manor State Park in MD. You can hear
the trains from there.

OLD STUFF

Grafton, WV. We were on north bound 119 just below Grafton when we
caught this empty coal train moving south. Too bad we didn't have nicer weather.

Fredericksburg, VA Crossing the Rappahannock River, Northbound on
CSX trackage. This is a beautiful spot for morning shots of CSX.
