A range of workshops designed for education and health professionals, students and parents include:
AUDITORY DISCRIMINATION IN DEPTH AND
VISUALIZING AND VERBALIZING TRAINING COURSE
For speech therapists, special education/ LD support teachers, psychologists
Reading, spelling and speech development depend on adequate auditory conceptual development – the ability to perceive the number, order, and identity of sounds in words and to represent those sounds symbolically. The concepts of the Lindamood Auditory Conceptualisation (LAC) Test and the Auditory Discrimination in Depth (ADD) Program presented in this course will enable you to prevent or remediate reading and spelling problems which are a result of this cognitive deficit. The Nanci Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing (V/V) Program stimulates the development of language comprehension and expression through the use of imagery which is the foundation of higher order thinking skills. These concepts also have a wide application to many speech and language problems and are supported by clinical and classroom studies and current brain research. These programs have been adapted to suit the needs of Australian students and can be used individually or in small groups.
This ten week course is intensive and limited to a maximum of 12 participants. The minimum number required is six. A total of 80 hours is essential to cover theory, observation, and supervised practice. Both programs are necessary for the remediation of learning disabled students.
Dates for next training course: Mondays from 8:00am to 5:00pm starting 16th July through 23rd October 2001
