Larry Sandham's

Clubman 2L 16V racer from Canada.

Spec.
The engine was built by John Toovey Race and Rally and is
approx 3/4 race to coin a phrase.  It has a ported and polished head,
standard size valves, hydraulic followers, some torquey cams, aftermarket
springs an MBE ignition, headers, ARP rod bolts ( a must ), Accralite 11.5:1
pistons, which all adds up to about 245 hp at 7200 rpm.

The drive train consists of a sc/cr gear kit in a standard F20 box, and a
Tranex LSD set to it's max of 70%.
The frame is of FORTECH design the same as Michael Kearney's SCCA GT-5 Mini.
It's got 4 wheel discs, 10.5 inch front rotors with 4 pot Bicknell calipers
and 9 inch solids at the rear with Wildwood Dynalite singles.  Speedway sway
bars, Fox shocks, Rockwell springs complete the suspension package.

The chassis is very skokum and the car weighs in at about 1450 lbs ready to
race.  This is quite a bit more than Pete's (ED, Baldwin's) carbon bodied Mini.

Mine has the original steel shell with fiberglass front end, doors, trunk lid, and
fenders.  The windows are Lexan and Plexiglas.  I've done a 13.18 @ 108 in
the 1/4 mile.  Top speed is an estimated 130ish MPH.  It's tricky to launch
even more so now with my ultralite SDB flywheel and 5.5 inch twin plate
clutch that I got last winter.  This took the total flywheel/clutch weight
down from 25.5 lbs to 10.5 lbs.  It does buzz up quickly now.  I use the car
for hill climbs, road racing and Sprints and slaloms.  Originally I had a
1380cc 'A' series with approx 130 hp now it's much more fun to drive,
although it's carrying about 5% more front end weight.

Many thanks to Larry Sandham for providing all the pictures and text.
