Why Rover Engines ??

The Mini has always been part of the group which became known as Rover (apart from the BMW buy out of course) so why change manufactures when they have a whole host of engines that fit, and many of the parts are inter changeable ?

A Series Why change when you've already got a tunable engine! With this being the engine of choice for so many years it has been well developed in natural aspirated and supercharged forms.

Commonly used is the MG metro A+ unit as it is cheap, in plentiful supply from scrap yards, and boasts 72 bhp in standard form.

Another popular metro unit was the turbo. Although fewer in numbers they give around 92 bhp in standard form. This does however require a lot of work on the body side to make it fit, as well as up rating the brakes and suspension to cope with the extra power as on the naturally aspirated MG unit.

For more information i would recommend David Vizards Tuning the A series engine as a must read. (see picture )

K series I have seen a few of these at the shows, often in clubman's as they fit with few bonnet mods !!

They are also popular for full on major mods as they can give some serious power for the weight. Rover V8 !!!! Yes some nutter has been putting Rover V8's in a vans and clubman's amongst other things!!
