The other day I was floating around cyber space checking out web sites and came across a site of a new show exhibitor that talked about "Bank Money" at shows. "Bank Money" is my term for the money you take with you to shows to make change. Everyone has different opinions on this subject but I have found that this works will for me: $60.00 in bills, $30.00 in ones, 2 $5.00 bills and 2 $10.00 bills. This will allow you to break that $20. bill your first customer gives you in the morning for a $3.00 purchases!! :) As for change: a roll of quarters, dimes and nickels will probably get you through the whole show season. As for pennies, they appear around our house so I save them!! Now, were to keep your money while at the show. Some people just keep it in their pockets, This to me doesn't look professional. Some people use a money belt, I tried this but it became uncomfortable. If you decide to use a money belt, get one that has change pockets, this will make it much easier for you to make change. If you use a show cart, you can put a money drawer in the top drawer (I use this) and some may want a cash register (there are battery operated ones). I have found that where you keep your money is based on your display. If your tables are in the front of the display and people are not able to walk through the whole display, then a drawer may work for you. If people are able to walk through your display, and you move through the display to talk to customers, then a money belt would be best. I have never heard of a crafter being robbed of money. Mostly merchandise!! But, a little money thought will keep you and your money safe and make for a better show for you. Happy crafting |
