Book Reviews

The Handmade Soap Book by Melinda Coss

Review by Jessica / Rose-Kim Handmade Toiletries

This is a very good book for the beginner. It provides a general overview of CP soapmaking, with some information on additives, oil qualities and colorants. There are lots of great photographs too. The recipes are all pretty basic and rely heavily on vegetable shortening. Coss also briefly discusses melt and pour and transparent soapmaking. The best thing about this book is Coss's writing. She has a very funny, breezy style which makes this book a pleasure to read.
