CLOUD

You are Cloud Strife, ex-Soldier First Class. Your father died when you were very young and your childhood hero was Sephiroth. When you were just sixteen, you went on a mission at your hometown, Nebelheim. That is where Sephiroth learns a bit about his past and destroys your hometown, including your vibrant mother.

Now you are out to make money so you do a few missions with Avalanche. Eventually, you permanently join them to save the world from evil.

BARRET
Barret Wallace will prove to be one of your greatest companions. This thirty-five year-old leader of Avalanche is a big brute and his weapon is the gun-arm. Although he is very hotheaded, he loves his daughter, Marlene, more than anything else.

THE FLOWER GIRL

You meet Aeris Gainsborough, the twenty-two year-old beauty, while trying to get back to the train to meet up with the rest of the group. She is the last of the remaining Cetra (Ancients), and Shinra wants to use her as another specimen. She was mostly raised by Elmyra, a sweet woman who found her while trying to meet her husband at the train station, because he was supposedly on leave. She took this child in as if she was her own. Little Aeris was quite talkative and the two got along well.

Aeris always knew she was different: She heard voices in her head. Her mother, Ifalna, was an Ancient. She is the most essential element (next to Sephiroth) in this fantastic plot.

TIFA
Tifa Lockheart is your childhood friend. She is a great fighter, for a man named Zangan taught her martial arts. She has been in love with Cloud ever since they were children but never expressed her true feelings. Tifa despises Sephiroth, Shinra, Mako Energy, Midgar, etc. because that is the reason for the death of her father. Sephiroth just about killed her too.

REDXIII
Red XIII is a specimen you come across in the Shinra Building. Red is not only excessively strong, but his intelligence exceeds that of any other. Red's mother died when the enemy attacked his hometown, Cosmo Canyon, long ago and he believes his father, Seto, is a coward and did nothing but run. He calls a very intelligible man by the name of Bugenhagen, Grandpa. When you visit Cosmo Canyon, everyone refers to him as Nanaki.

THE TURKS

This group will tend to get in your way quite a bit throughout the game. Tseng is the leader and Reeve, Reno, Rude, and Elena are under him.

SHINRA

Shinra is the president. He even has control over Mayor Domino of Midgar. When he dies, however, his bratty son, Rufus, takes over. Heidegger is an annoyance and Palmer is nothing but a fat pig. Scarlet is one of the head weapons executives.

SEPHIROTH
Sephiroth is your main enemy. Most is unknown about him but everyone knows that he is stronger than anyone alive. Sephiroth is beyond cruel and heartless. He kills in cold blood and destroys entire towns, not even caring to think about the innocent people. Sephiroth is the one who annihilates your hometown, your mother, Tifa's father, and almost Tifa. He goes completely insane when he finds out about his past, who his mother (Jenova) is, and where he came from. Play the game to find out more.

SUMMONS
Throughout the duration of the game, you can acquire various Summon Materia. These are helpful (and pretty much almost necessary) for a positive final outcome. You can summon:

Chocobo and Mog
Shiva
Ifrit
Titan
Ramuh
Odin
Leviathan
Kjata
Bahamut
Alexander
Neo Bahamut
Phoenix
Hades
Bahamut from Zero
Typoon
Knights of the Round Table

ENEMY SKILLS
Name (MPs needed)-short description and where it can be obtained.

Frog Song (5 MPs)-casts both Sleep and Toad on a single enemy. It can be obtained near Gongaga by the frogs.

Level 4 Suicide (10 MPs)-this spell casts Death Sentence and Mini on a single opponent whose level is a multiple of 4 (4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, etc). This can be acquired from the little chipmunk creatures, Mu, near the Chocobo Sage's house and on the grassy plains near Bone Village.

Magic Hammer (3 MPs)-this allows a character to absorb 100 MPs from a single enemy. Obviously, if the enemy has less than 100 MPs, that will be all you obtain. You find this Enemy Skill from the Razor Weeds that dwell near Wutai.

White Wind (34 MPs)-adds the amount of HP to all party members equal to that of the caster's current HP. This skill can be acquired from Zemzellet. Zemzellet is the giant bird-like creature around Junon.

Big Guard (56 MPs)-this Enemy Skill casts Barrier, MBarrier, and Haste to all members of your party. You obtain this skill from creatures called Beach Plugs near Costa Del Sol.

Angel Whisper (50 MPs)-this awesome skill completely restores HP, cures most abnormal status of a single target, and completely revive a dead party member. You obtain it from Pollensalita (the woman in the one-piece bathing suit) in the final dungeon.

Dragon Force (19 MPs)-increases both magical and physical defense during a battle by 50% for a single ally. You obtain this in the final dungeon from the Dark Dragon.

Death Force (3 MPs)-protects a single character from Death Spells. You acquire it from the Adamantai (the turtle creatures on the beaches nearby Wutai.)

Flame Thrower (10 MPs)-this does a fair amount of fire damage to an enemy. To obtain this one, fight Archdragon in the Mythril Mines.

Laser (16 MPs)-reduces a single enemy's HP by one-half. Of course, this skill does not work on bosses, or even all enemies. You may acquire this skill from Death Claw in the Corel Prison.

Matra Magic (8 MPs)-inflicts light damage to all enemies and looks like you are launching little missiles. You can get this skill in two places from two totally different enemies. The first is from an enemy called Custom Sweepers, which look like a walking machine-gun, just outside of Midgar. The second is from Bull Motor in the Corel Prison.

Bad Breath (58 MPs)-this skill uses Poison, Sleep, Toad, Mini, and Confuse on all opponents. You can acquire this nifty skill from the big, green monster things on the Snow Mountain after you talk to Holzoff.

Beta (35 MPs)-causes some damage (probably Beta rays) to all opponents. This one is rather tricky to acquire. You fight the Midgar Zolom (the snake thing by the Chocobo farm), wait until he knocks one of you party members out (hopefully one without your Enemy Skill Materia), and then he may use it. However, if your character with the Materia is knocked out, keep trying until you get it.

Aqualung (34 MPs)-this one is my favorite. It inflicts a good amount of water damage to all opponents. You obtain this utterly awesome skill from these three-headed beasts near in the Gold Saucer desert.

Trine (20 MPs)-this skill zaps all your opponents with lightning damage. You are able to obtain this skill from these prehistoric bird-like creatures on Mount Nibel.

Magic Breath (75 MPs)-inflicts a decent amount of Lightning, Fire, and Ice to every enemy. To acquire this one, fight the enemy that looks somewhat like a crab on the Gaea Cliff.

???? (3 MPs)-this skill causes damage equal to your max HP subtracted from your current HP to a single enemy. To learn this one, fight the Judges (the things that look like weights suspended in the air).

Goblin Punch (O MPs)-this skill is rather lame. It inflicts does a light of damage to one opponent. However, if the enemy you use this skill on is at the same level as your character using Goblin Punch, the damage is increased dramatically. You acquire this from Goblins on Goblin Island near the Chocobo Sage's house.

Chocobuckle (3 MPs)-one enemy receives damage equal to the number of times it has escaped from battle. This is a quite tough one to obtain. You need to go to the Chocobo tracks near the Chocobo Sage's house, get a Chocobo in level sixteen, have each party member give it a Mimett Green, and then use the Level 4 Suicide Enemy Skill on it. He will then get super pissed, and use the Chocobuckle Enemy Skill on you and your party.

Level 5 Death (22 MPs)-this Enemy Skill instantly kills all enemies whose levels are a multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc). You learn this from the Parasite in the final dungeon.

Death Sentence (10 MPs)-this skill casts Death Sentence on an enemy. To obtain this, fight some creatures called Sneaky Step and Death Specter in the Cave of the Gi.

Death Roulette (6 MPs)-this one is somewhat demented. The character will use it one an enemy and the game will then decide to kill one of you: either your character or the enemy. You can acquire this mostly useless skill from Death Dealers in the final dungeon.

Shadowflare (100 MPs)-this is another awesome skill. It causes an enormous amount of damage to all opponents. Ultimate Weapon and Dragon Zombie will give you this.

Pandora's Box (110 MPs)-this is another one of my favorites. It inflicts a gigantic amount of type-less damage to all enemies. The Dragon Zombie in the final dungeon will give you this.
