Found this LEC carbine which was placed in a "sporter" stock. The rifle looks to be original, with matching S/N's on receiver and barrel; the bolt has a non-matching S/N. There is some slight pitting on the right side of barrel in front of the handguard. Thanks to Cruffler list members Walt and Lee for info on this rifle.
LEC information found on left side of receiver base; date of 1895 along with "VR" and crown stamp along with LEC England stamps.
Right side wiew with the bolt open. Safety shows on back of bolt body and flattened bolt handle.
With bolt closed, you can see the "sheet metal duct cover" that envelops the bolt
Barrel end and muzzle. Blade sight and "collar" around the end of barrel
Flip up rear sight is located on the barrel in front of the receiver.
Left side view shows rear sight and short magazine
Left side view shoing replacement furniture
Right side view of LEC
Right side view, bolt open and chamber showing
