Oliver Queen enjoying a cruise on his private yacht when it was boarded by pirates and he was knocked overboard during the struggle. Queen managed to swim to a nearby deserted island. While on the island he fashioned a longbow and trained himself in archery, in order to survive. The pirates would eventually land on the island, after taking over another ship, with intent on killing the passengers. Queen defeated the pirates using his archery skills and returned to civilization as the Green Arrow.
The daughter of the first Black Canary, Dinah grew up hearing of her mother's exploits, and she too wanted to be a hero. Against her mother's wishes, during her teens, Dinah trained at night with help from her "uncle" Ted Grant. Eventually, she donned her mother's former persona of the Black Canary.
Dinah returns to Star City to aid Oliver, Connor and Mia against Roadblock and Merlyn. During their mission, Dinah rekindles her relationship with Oliver, feeling that he has truly changed and that all the parts of him that she hated are apparently gone. Oliver admits to Dinah that many of the changes he made over the last year were for her. Eventually, Oliver proposes to Dinah.
