Noon-time in The Land of Fiction.
The Moderator is driving one of those really cute little convertible sports cars. Red. (Of course). She pulls up to what looks like a typical drive-through restaurant order board, and prepares to give her order.
The grilled speaker crackles. "Hello. Welcome to The Land of Fiction. May I take your order?" She frowns -- the voice sounds familiar, but she can't quite place it. Shrugging, she leans forward. "Hi, I'd like one 'Internet Adventure', please."
"Right. Would you like a side order of angst with that?"
She snorts. "Whaddaya think this is, an NA? Give me a side of dry humor, an order of DW inside-jokes, and some of those pop-culture references..."
"Thank you. Please drive up to the window to pick up your order."
She floors the gas pedal and zips up to the order pick-up window. When she gets there, she sees why the voice sounded familiar -- the 8th Doctor is leaning out the window. Behind him, Grace Holloway hands him a bag.
"Oh, *this* is cute," the Moderator says. "What are *you* guys doing here?"
He shrugs. "We had to do *something* while we were waiting for the next IA to get underway."
"Uh-hunh. Well, once I get my order, it can get started." She holds out her hand for the bag.
He starts to hand the bag over, then hesitates. "Any hints? About what's in store, this time?"
"You know how it works -- the first writer gets to pick the story premise."
"Oh, come on -- you're the Moderator. Surely you have *some* idea?"
"No, and don't pull that cute little wheedling trick on me. My order, please." She holds out her hand resolutely. ( Not so easy -- it *is* an extremely cute kind of wheedle).
He sighs. "Oh, all right. Here you go."
She grins. "Thanks! Don't look so glum --the first chapter will be appearing on alt.drwho.creative in just a week, on Monday, September 30th! See you then!"
She puts the pedal to the metal, and zips off.
Grace and the Doctor look at each other, speculatingly. "Geesh --at this rate, *anything* could happen," she says.
He grins suddenly. "Yes, isn't it exciting? Well, we'll find out in a week..."
But you can find out right now.
