This Camote Morado sweetpotato is from Guatemala and was a research specimen (PI399163) from the National Germplasm Repository in Griffin, GA. Camote Morado has a dry deeply-purple flesh with dark-purple skin and a leaf shaped like a shield. The pigment is so intense, that the taste is not very sweet. The vine and leaves are also purple, even with purple hairs. They do not keep well, tending to dry quickly out of the soil.
