Welcome to my little shrine dedicated
to Japan!
As most people would know by now, I have a bit of
an addiction to Japan, particularly to the language. I have been watching
English-dubbed Japanese anime since I was a kid, but it was when I got hooked to
the J-dorama "Seija no Koushin" that I became interested in learning
the language. I saw an ad in the papers about Japanese language courses
and it all started from there!
I have been to Japan only once and of course, I would love to come back
someday! In the short period that I was there, I was amazed by everything
that I saw. Everywhere I went, there was a mixture of the traditional and
the ultra-modern, the uniquely Japanese and the very Western. You can read
all about my experiences in Japan by clicking here.
Here are
some of my personal lists on Japan:
Top 10 places to go to when I go back to
Japan
- Nikko Toshogu - the mausoleum of Tokugawa
Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.
- Universal Studios Japan (Osaka) -
I spent most of my time in Japan in Osaka and yet I never had the chance to
visit USJ. >_<
- John Lennon Museum (Tokyo)
- The Cavern, Roppongi (Tokyo)
- Kanazawa - Samurai Land!
- Hakone - famous for its many hot
springs/onsen, Hakone Shrine, and a view of the famed Mt. Fuji.
- Mt. Fuji - Who doesn't want to go to Mt.
Fuji??
- Okinawa - I heard life there is totally
different, really laid-back and very rustic.
- Sapporo - Snow country! Maybe, I could
also get to meet the famed "Yuki Onna"! ^_~
- Wherever there are hot springs
Things I want to do when I
go back to Japan
-
Go through that hole in
Todaiji (Nara)
-
Stalk Koyasu - Calm down; I'm
not serious...I just want to see him in
person!
-
Meet my Japanese penpals
-
Eat at KFC! - OK, I'm a
chicken freak...so what?
-
Go to a public bath - Maybe
someday I will have the courage to go to a public bath.
-
Go to a Catholic church and
attend mass - The only time I was able to see a Catholic church was when I
was reading a map!
-
Cherry blossom viewing
-
Climb Mt. Fuji
-
Learn calligraphy, taiko and tea
ceremony - I don't have many chances to learn them in my own country.
Zannen...
-
Go to the Yuki Matsuri (Winter
Festival) in Sapporo - Brrr...
Things I don't like about
Japan
-
Natto - I'm so sorry...I
really can't get myself to eat it!
-
Extremely cold people of Tokyo
- They live very harried lifestyles and have very little time to be kind to
others. I love the Osaka, Kyoto and Miyajima people; they are very
friendly, helpful and they like to chat, especially to
foreigners.
-
Wasabi - I
won't eat wasabi, even if you pay me. My stomach is not strong enough to digest it.
-
Japanese-style toilets - The
longer you squat, the more uncomfortable you get.
-
Prices of commodities -
Takasugiru yo!
You might ask me where my
"Things-I-like-about-Japan" list is. I don't have one, because
if I try to list everything I like about Japan, then I will have to make a whole
new website for that! ^_^
Speaking of things I like about
Japan, what would definitely top that list would be the BISHOUNENS! I have
a partial and preliminary list of real/3D and animated/2D bishies. Be
careful not to drool over yer keyboard, OK? ^_~
Real Bishies |
Anime
Bishies |
Koyasu Takehito
- Need I say more??
|
Aya Fujimiya - from the
anime Weiss Kreuz, (as if you didn't know!)
created by Koyasu Takehito (I
*heart* Koyasu!).
Koyasu is also Aya's seiyuu/voice actor. |
Kimura Takuya - who
doesn't like
KimuTaku, anyway?? This guy's illegally gorgeous, he ought to be locked
up! ^_^ Doesn't matter if he's married, hehe! |
Genjo Sanzo - the
kick-ass,
bad-mouthing gun-toting monk in Gensomaden Saiyuki. |
Kubozuka Yousuke - My
love affair
with Kubozuka started with the J-dorama "Strawberry on
the Shortcake/SOS"! I am forever indebted to Alice-Sensei for
making the class watch it. |
Himura Kenshin - also
known as
Hitokiri Battousai. Who doesn't know this guy, anyway?? |
Wada Tsuyoshi - Player number 21
and pitcher
for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, champion of the Nippon Professional Baseball
League for 2003. |
Rukawa Kaede - Player
number 11
and super rookie of the Shohoku High basketball team. |
Ishihara Nobuteru- Japan's
Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport...He looks like he stepped
out of an anime...or a rock concert. He's THAT cool! |
Saotome Ranma - Of
course... my fiancé! ^_~ |
Gackt, Sakurai Kazutoshi (Mr.
Children) and Teru (Glay) should be on the list too...but there are other
bishies outside of J-showbiz too!
