Our Baby Marin!Marin is walking!! There were times when I never thought we'd see that day. She took her first unassisted steps on April 20th, just 3 days before Daddy left on his deployment. She's now walking all over the place trying desperately to keep up with her sister. Her overall prognosis is good. She is wearing a new brace at night and comes out of it in the daytime. Her hip socket is growing, but we won't know if she has to have surgery until she's about 4 years old. I think that's the point when the joint's growth really slows. She is just so proud of her new independence.Marin is also quite a charmer. We noticed one night when we went out to eat that she will scan the room to find someone to make eye contact with. Then she turns on the charm. She'll wave and dance and smile and play and talk. It's really something. She also absolutely adores her big sister. They play well together, barring the occasional smacks and cries associated with siblings! If you would like to read more about hip dysplasia, you can visit the hip-baby link on this page. When we get a chance, we will be uploading some photos of Marin in her cast and brace.
