Morrigan

I put a section in under notes about the Morrigan in my story but I'll hit it again here. Otherwise the character may seem very confusing to some people.

"The Morrigan" is a cross between a title and a name. She was the Celtic battle Goddess known as the "Phantom Queen". Her aspects included a hooded crow, the Washer at the Crossroads and a striking raven. She would choose which warriors would die in battle and to this day many Irish people see the raven as a bad omen signifying death.

The Morrigan was also the Seeker of Justice. She chose warriors and trained them to dispense justice to the common people who had no other source of help. The were known as Morrigan's Ravens.

The cult of Morrigan spread throughout Europe and the Mediterranean which gave me the idea for Joxer's ship.

Some other texts speak of The Morrigan as three separate Goddess (see Professor Williams, I was paying attention in class.) who lived in one body. One was known as the "Vulture" and one was known as "Frenzy".

The Morrigan was the Goddess women prayed to when they had been mistreated by their husbands. Which explains to me why Hera would be friends with her.

There are a lot of really good sites on the web with a wide variety of information. None of them really agree with each other so I took info from several and put them together to create my Morrigan.
