The Benjamin Thomas Heady Family
Benjamin Thomas Heady was born on November 7, 1837 in Switzerland County, Indiana to Thomas S. Heady and Sarah Barnett Johnson. His father died in a horse accident in 1837, probably before he was born. His mother married Conrad Lepper in 1841 and the family moved to Davis County, Iowa.
On November 9, 1863 in Davis County, Iowa, Benjamin Thomas Heady wed Lucy Francis Blodgett. Lucy was born on August 11, 1836 in Indiana.
Benjamin Heady served in the Civil War from Iowa and Indiana. He was a private in Co. B 140th Regiment IN Volunteer Infantry. He was also a First and Second Lieutenant in Co. L in Indiana. His brother, George Henry Heady was a Sergeant in Co. L with him.
On November 29, 1911, Benjamin Thomas Heady died in Floris, Davis Co., Iowa. Lucy Heady died on February 17, 1925 in Lick Creek township, Davis Co., Iowa. They are both buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Floris, Davis Co., Iowa.

- Druzilla Belle Heady, born Feb. 23, 1871 and died Aug. 17, 1916.
- She married Cyrus F. Hale on Oct. 30, 1890.
- Etta Heady
- She married William C. McAdoo on June 29, 1892.
- Ulysses Samuel Heady, born March 21, 1869 and died in 1954.
- He married Minnie Hale on March 10, 1891.
- Clarence W. Heady
- He married Annie Mae Shell.
- Anna M. Heady, born May 1, 1867.
