Mildred Eliza Smith Jenkins March 27, 2007 - 12:00AM
KINSTON - Mildred Eliza Smith Jenkins, 90, of 625 Tully Hill Road, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Kinston. She was the daughter of the late Jeremiah "Jerry" and Eliza Heath Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Jenkins and her sisters, Ella Mae McCoy, Effie Grace Mozingo and Annie Lee Gaskins, and her step-grandson, Falvin Huffman. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Dixon officiating. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, James Brent (J.J.) Jenkins and wife Brenda, of Kinston. She raised four others as her own, her daughters, Sadie Mozingo Muse of the home, Faye Mozingo Hillary and husband Jackie, of Ft. Smith, Ark. and sons, Hubert Wayne Mozingo and wife Rose, of Newburg, N.Y. and Wesley Carroll Mozingo and wife Marlina, of Maple Hill, N.C, one step-daughter, Ruth Huffman of Morehead City, 15 grandchildren, Gary Jenkins and wife Kelly, Melissa Jenkins Hill and husband Wayne, all of Pink Hill, Micky Jenkins and wife Shannon, Linda Muse Tyndall and husband Larry, Judy Muse Stallings and fianc Jesse Harper, all of Kinston, Brenda Newbold Jones, Dale Newbold and wife Cherry, Pam Newbold Jones and husband Chris, all of Ft. Smith, Ark., Allen Mozingo, Michelle Mozingo Capps and husband Daryl, Melody Mozingo Locklear and husband Billy, all of Maple Hill, Betty Mozingo Lazaro and husband Felipe, of Newburg, N.Y., Alvin Huffman and wife Brenda, of Delaware, Alice Huffman Wichtl and husband Victor, of Newport, N.C., Jonia Huffman Sabo and husband Donald, of Library, Pa. She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews from the McCoy and Gaskins families. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Wednesday night at the funeral home and other times at her home. The family would like to say a special thank you to her nurse, Pam Mozingo from Tar Heel Home Health and Dr. Teigha Randolph and her staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church c/o Tina Boyette, 1990 Highway 11-55, Kinston NC 28504. (Paid obituary)
