Leigh Parrish was the singer of an up and coming rock band, This Ruined Masterpiece. It was a struggle, to go from nobody to somebody and the band was having more than a little trouble making that crucial step. They wrote all their own songs, played instruments, but that record contract seemed to be ever elusive.
Derek Gledhill was the drummer for the band Smile Empty Soul. A spot on the much coveted SnoCore tour helps propel Derek and the band to even higher places than what they were before. They are blessed with tour mates and success, enjoying all that life has to offer.
On a whim, Leigh gives a demo to Derek, in the hopes that he will listen to it and help her band get into the recording industry. Within one listen of the band’s demo, Derek is on the phone with SES’s manager at Throback Records and manages to get the band a chance to get signed.
This Ruined Masterpiece is on a trial run, and opening spots at a few Smile Empty Soul concerts will determine whether or not they will receive a recording contract. When Leigh is thrown into close contact with Derek, an attraction immediately develops. Leigh, self destructive by nature, begins a volatile affair with Derek, threatening to not only ruin her band’s chances at getting a contract, but to ruin Derek’s career as well.
Will Leigh amend her self destructive tendencies? Will Derek be able to lure Leigh away from drugs and keep her on the right path? Or will Derek pay the price for trying to help her struggling band?
