After leaving Natalya’s apartment, Nick decided that if he wanted answers, he had to go to his mom. Since he was already in Tampa, it wasn’t a long drive.
“Nick! What a surprise.” Jane said, as she let her son into the house.
“You really liked the ballet didn’t you?” Jane nodded. “Especially Natalya DeLoch?
“Why do you want to know?”
“What I want to know is why she quit. Do you still have all those articles you cut out?”
“Somewhere. Let me find them.” Jane returned about ten minutes later, a big box in hand.
“Here you go sweetie.: Nick took the box to his room and started sorting through the articles. He found ones from when she was eleven all the way until she was seventeen.
“Young ballet star has mysterious accident.” Nick read. He skimmed the article. Somehow, during a production, Natalya had fell and hurt her knee. Fans who attended the performance have reason to believe that her partner, Julian Marquet, dropped her during a complicated dance sequence. The doctors never expected her to dance again. But after surgery and rehabilitation, the doctors gave her the go ahead. But Natalya refused. No is quite sure why. Hmmm, Nick thought as he pulled out another article. “Ballet star hospitalized after brutal beating.” Natalya was hospitalized after her boyfriend attacked her.
