time were Crush and Farenheight - I don't know about you - but I think they
chose well.

When the group first started out as the 4Trax,
Mike was a shortie - he still is - but he was much younger than
the other guys and had to stand on a red stool to reach their
height. I'll post a pic as soon as possible :)

Mike is married, Andrew is married, Phil was
married, Toby is not married.

Mike is 168cm tall - or short I suppose.

Yes! Though the season is over now, Toby was
one of the hosts of a TV show based on the segment from the Daily
Telegraph (and affiliates) called body+soul. The show of the same
name, was co-hosted by Paul Mecurio, Karina Brown and it features
segments on diet, fitness, relationships, physical and spiritual
health and self image. It featured on Channel 9. Thursdays at 8pm. However
the show has now been redeveloped and Toby no longer makes an appearance due to
other commitments.

In 1989, Andrew Tierney started singing
group the 4Trax with school friends Phil Burton and Toby Allen
and brother Michael Tierney.
While at Hurlstone Agricultural High in
Sydney, their classmates often harassed them for singing
harmonies, rather than getting muddy on the football field, the
group of friends held on to their dream. For the next five years,
the 4Trax honed their skills by performing to anyone who stood
still long enough to listen. They sung mostly covers of 50s and
60s hits in clubs around Sydney, entering many talent contests
and receiving three Mo Awards for excellence in live performance.
By the end of 1995, the 4Trax decided that
theyd had enough of the club scene - started to write their
own songs and changed their name to Human Nature.
You bet! The boys played 50 singing group
'The Naturals' and sung covers of 'Poison Ivy', 'Stay', 'Teenager
in Love', 'Shake You Outta My Head' and 'Earth Angel'

Phil's goatee seems different in every clip or photo shot - I've got no idea why - but it's one of the things I look out for.

Mike: January 18, 1977

Michael and Andrew are brothers. But the
boys all met at Hurlstone Agricultural High in Sydney. They were
the only boys in the school choir. Toby, Phil and Andrew were in
the same year and first became friends around 1986.

The first song they sung together was an
arrangement Andrew did of the 50's song Earth Angel.
They performed it at an end of year school
concert and realised that they were onto a good thing.

So you're obviously not a Rove(live) fan.
Tiny man - Big Hair, was a segment that appeared for several
consecutive weeks on Rove(live). The segment consisted of
flashing a pic of Mike and the words 'tiny man big hair'. This
idea can also be seen in the 'Always Be With You' clip - where
Guido Hatzis tells Mike to sit in the high chair which holds a
reservation for tiny men with big hair...

They write a large portion of their own
material. If you want more specifics you'll have to either check
your CD slick or the biography section of this
website.

If that wasn't the funniest Human Nature
Clip you have ever seen there is obviously something wrong with
your funny bone! Guido Hatzis (break dancing legend) appeared in
the 'Always Be With You' clip to teach the guys how to dance.
With moves like the atomic shrug and the helicopter it'll have
you falling off your chair!

He Don't Love You has been the highest selling HN single to date - making it to number 4 on the Australian charts. They were robbed I tell you - robbed! Ah well, the next one will hit number 1 =)
However -
the duet that Human Nature did with John Farnham reached No. 3.

The guys
entered a meeting with Sony Music Chairman and CEO Dennis
Handlin, to try and convince him to sign them, trying to get him
to believe that they would be a fantastic asset to the Columbia.
The four guys gave a brilliant a cappella performance of People
Get Ready from where they were standing and were signed on
the spot! Something Dennis Handlin had never done before - and
has never done since!

Here you go - straight from the horses mouth!
While
we were in Japan, a fan gave me a big packet of fireworks. I
took them up to my hotel room and pulled out what looked like a
sparkler and lit it. Well, it wasnt just a sparkler,
it was more like a flare, and it just let off so much smoke. I looked up at the smoke alarm and
next thing, the manager was knocking on the door and fire engines
had arrived!" -Andrew

Chances are it's "Mo Mo Ai Ni" (Secretly
in Love With You).
It's about secret love and was first
performed by the guys as a duet with Taiwanese singer Coco Lee.
It's recorded in Mandarin and was released
on the Asian version of Counting Down.
Here's the lyrics in Mandarin and
with a translation.

35. What's this about them appearing on Neighbours?
The guys
appeared on Neighbours as a bit of a promotion for He Don't Love You. In
the episode, Flick invited Mike and the band to perform at her debutante
ball. He was stoked to be asked. They performed He Don't Love
You. Not being a fan of the show myself
- these were the first and last three episodes of Neighbours I'll watch.
Hey - it was a bit of fun and we got to see Mike do a bit of acting.
Are
the breaking up?
Here you go -
straight from the horse's mouth...
Putting Paid To Rumours (Friday 20th September 2002)
by Phil
Over the past while, I’ve been inundated via emails, interviews and general chats by one question- “I’ve heard you guys are breaking up- is it true?”
Let me state categorically (because quite frankly I’m getting sick of the question) that the answer is a very firm NO!!!
For some reason, people are assuming that because (1) we’ve released a Best Of album, (2) we’re not doing Rumba this year, and (3) Toby is branching out a little with Cabaret (he’s brilliant by the way- do yourself a favour and go see it!), then it must be all over for ‘The Nature’. Come on guys- we’re not some fraudulent hit-and-quit product of some crappy TV series. We’ve been together for 13 years now- enjoying every moment of it- and we’re feeling stronger and more excited than ever.
Releasing a Best Of album has given us the chance to close the door on what’s been done up to now, and really get into something fresh and new. You’ll be pleased to know we’ve found a great new direction for our next album, and will be hitting the studios soon. We will have a single out around February, and the album around Easter.
So there you go- Human Nature is still together, and still going strong. Thanks to all of you who’ve supported us over the years- we can’t wait to get back out there and into your ears again soon!
Cheers,
Phil

Have
they written the theme song for a TV show or movie?
Yes to both. Human Nature performed the theme song for an Australian movie
called Paperback Hero. It was written by Michael and Andrew. This song can be
found on the single Last To Know and is titled "She's Taken My Words".
Michael and Andrew also wrote the theme song for an Australian Television series
called Echo Point. This song was titled "Down By The Water" and
was performed by Nick Howard. It can be found on his single "Who Fell
in Love?" which was released in 1995.
