Joshua and Mary resided in Ridgefield for several years after their marriage. Sometime after 1930 they moved into Cortlandt Manor in North Salem, Westchester Co., N. Y. Joshua was Captain of Westchester Co. Militia Company for several years. He served in the military in French and Indian Wars 1755-1760. Among the names of Westchester County Volunteers who fought in those famous French and Indian Wars are Capt. Joshua Lobdell and his five sons.....Sergeant Joshua Lobdell; Corporal Ebenezer Lobdell; Privates Daniel, Jacob, and John Lobdell. To

Joshua and Mary had the following children: (I)--Rachel Lobdell - (born in Cortlandt Manor (Salem), Westchester Co., NY) m. Jacob Rundle (born June 30, 1726), was inducted into the military in Westchester Co., NY April 14, 1758. (II)-Mary Lobdell - (born Dec. 6, 1725, Ridgefield, CT) m Robert Pedrick, Jr. (born June 30, 1726, baptized Jan. 22, 1727), served in the military in French and Indian Wars, 1755-1760. (III)--**Joshua Lobdell III - (born April 13, 1727, Ridgefield, CT) m. Sarah Scott, daughter of David Scott (IV)-Ebenezer Lobdell - (born Dec. 1, 1730 - died between Feb. 23, 1799 and June 12, 1799) m. Deborah Palmer (born Dec. 29, 1734, Greenwich, CT), daughter of Jonathan Palmer Ebenezer served in the military in French and Indian Wars, 1755-1760. He was corporal in His Majesty's Seventh Company of Militia in the upper battalion, in Westchester Co., in the French and Indian wars, in his father's Company, under Col. Wm. Willett. (V)--Jacob Lobdell - (born about 1732 in Cortlandt Manor (Salem), Westchester Co., NY - died probably in West Stockbridge, MA) m. Aug. 28, 1757 Ruth Boughton (born about 1738 - died April 16, 1816 in Westport, Essex Co., NY), daughter of Eleazer Boughton and Elizabeth Seymour (VI)-Daniel Lobdell - (born about 1740 in Cortlandt Manor, Westchester Co., NY) m. Elizabeth Lockwood (born Aug. 24, 1743), daughter of Joseph Lockwood and Agnes Money I quote from a portion of Doug Lobdell's website: "Montgomery County To the Honourable Board of Commissioneers appointed by the Legislature of the State of New York, etc.: This may certifie that Daniel Lobdell of Palentine Town in the County aforesaid did belong to Capt. John Cuizer's Company of Molitia in my Ridgement in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty, and was so fare in actual Service as to be held Ready for Service at a minute's warning, and being at home at his own house in the Royal grant on the third Day of April in the year afore said, was Taken prisoner by a party of Indians, himself and three sons, one of abought Sixteen years of age, the other two younger, and Carried prisoners to Canady and theire cept three years and a half stript of His property Sutch Surcomstances. February 12, 1793 John Keyser" (VII)--John Lobdell - (Born March 10, 1743, Cortlandt Manor, Westchester Co., NY - died Oct. 15, 1812, Cortlandt Manor, NY) m. May 30, 1764 Elizabeth Sherwood (born May 16, 1744, Ridgefield, CT - died July 22, 1804, Cortlandt Manor, NY), daughter of Daniel Sherwood and Jerusha Whitney John served in the military in Westchester Co. On Nov. 1781 he is recorded as Private in the Company commanded by Capt. Ephraim Lockwood, belonging to Fourth Westchester Co. Regiment of the State Militia, which was under the command of Colonel Thaddeus Crane and employed in active service in the Revolutionary War. ~John and Elizabeth had one child~ --Jerusha Lobdell - (born March 3, 1769, Salem, NY - died May 2, 1849, Westerlo, NY) m. after 1802 to Isaac Lobdell (born March 8, 1755, Ridgefield, CT - died Sept. 11, 1802, Westerlo, NY), son of Joshua Lobdell III and Sarah Scott and widower of Mirriam Pomeroy There is speculation as to the parentage of David: (1) He may have been the son of Joshua 1, (2) He may have been the son of Samuel, eldest son of Joshua 1, or (3) He may have been the twin of Simon, Joshua 1's son --David Lobdell - (Born 1739, Ridgefield, CT - died 1809, St. Albans township, Licking Co., Ohio) m. Phoebe Burt (born July 15, 1738), daughter of Daniel Burt and Hannah Benedict. ~David and Phoebe had one child: Joshua Lobdell~ David and Phoebe lived in Warwick, Orange Co., New York until 1791. David was road master of Warwick in 1789 and later was living in CmConnellstown, Pennsylvania. In 1808 he and his son, Joshua, to St. Albans township, Licking Co., Ohio where he died in 1809. He was buried on the Drake farm, about a mile west of Alexandria. David and Joshua helped organize the Baptist Church on the Welsh Hills in St. Albans township in Sept. 1808.
