       Joshua and Sarah resided in Cortlandt Manor until after 1767 when the family moved to Rensselaerwyck, Albany Co., NY.  On March 29, 1784 that part of the Colony formed Stephenstown, NY.  The boundary line between NY and MA was settled in 1786 and Joshua's farm land was probably in Lanesboro,  Berkshire Co., MA, across the line from Stephenstown, NY.   Joshua and Sarah's three youngest children were baptized by Rev. Bostwick in Stephenstown.

       Joshua was Corporal in his father's company in the war against Canada 1755-1760.  He was also a Private in Capt. Cornelius Wiltse's Company, under Colonel Thaddeus Crane, Westchester Co. Militia (recorded under date of May 21, 1783) and performed active service in the Revolutionary War.

       When Joshua died, Sarah remarried James Wiley of Stephenstown.  On July 19, 1794, she is recorded as 'Widow Sarah Wiley,'  a charter member of the Presbyterian Church at Stephenstown Flats.

       In her extreme old age, Sarah made her home with her sons, Isaac and Simon Lobdell, at Westerlo, Albany Co., NY, where she died in 1823, at the age of 103  1/2 years.
 

Joshua and Sarah had twelve children:

(I)---Sarah Lobdell - (born in Ridgefield, CT; baptized Feb. 28, 1752) m. twice:  (1) Mr. Sprague (2) Daniel Hubbard

(II)-Joshua Lobdell IV - (born 1752 - died May 13, 1813 in Westerlo, NY) m. twice:  (1) Jane Pouce (2) Jane Yaw (died May 13, 1813, Westerlo, NY)

       (1)--Joel Lobdell

       (2)--Abraham Lobdell - (born Feb. 20, 1789, Westerlo, NY - died July 30, 1867-8, East Worcester, Otsego Co., NY) m. twice:  (1) March 10, 1810 to Elizabeth Wilson (born 1785, Chesterville, Albany Co., NY - died Nov. 6, 1830, Maryland, Otsego Co., NY), daughter of Robert Wilson and Ms. Wilsey.  They had 12 children.  (2) Lydia Wing (July 11, 1791-July 30, 1867-8) - daughter of James Wing and Hannah Bowerman and widow of David Titus.  They had no children.

(III)--**Isaac Lobdell - (born March 8, 1755, Ridgefield, CT - died 24 March 1838, Westerlo, NY) - m. twice:  (1) Mirriam Pomeroy, daughter of Joshua Pomeroy and Lois Phelps (2) m. after 1802 Jerusha Lobdell, daughter of John Lobdell and Elizabeth Sherwood.  (John Lobdell is son of Joshua Lobdell II and Mary Reynolds)

(V)---Hannah Lobdell - (born in Salem, NY; baptized June 24, 1759) m. Jeremiah Goodrich (born Aug. 4, 1757, Hancock, MA), son of Elijah Goodrich and Margaret Gillett

(VI)--Simon Lobdell - (born Feb. 25, 1762, Salem, NY) m. Grace Pomeroy of Berkshire Co., MA (born June 10, 1762, probably Lenox, MA - died Oct. 12, 1845, Westerlo, NY), daughter of Joshua Pomeroy and Lois Phelps and sister to Mirriam Pomeroy, who married Isaac Lobdell.
