Talk to Me
| Chapter 10
Kristyne and Nick sat there holding each other thinking about what the other had said. Slowly Kris was able to stop crying. It actually felt good to get it out to someone besides a counselor. It was something she probably should have done a long time ago. Physically and emotionally drained she was content just to be held by Nick. They sat that way for close to an hour, just holding each other, and at that point, not even really thinking, just being. Kris was the first to stir. Lifting her head she looked at Nick to thank him for listening, for not turning her away when she had no where else to go, but she just couldn’t make her voice work. Kris didn’t even realize she had lifted her hand and began tracing the line of his jaw and across his bottom lip. Nick lifted his fingers to push away a stray strand of hair from her face and then slowly put his hand behind her head and pulled her in for a soft kiss, barely brushing his lips across hers at first. When she didn’t pull away he pulled her in closer, taking her bottom lip between his lips and pulling on it gently with his and running his tongue along it. He could feel her shiver, but she didn’t move. He kissed her again with just a little more pressure and actually shivered himself when he felt her kiss him back. He was too afraid to deepen the kiss, but too caught up in it to stop. So, he just held her and continued to kiss her gently and hold her. That is, until they both heard Aaron clearing his throat from somewhere behind the couch. Kris pulled back and buried her head in Nick’s chest, just a little embarrassed at getting caught. Nick just smiled and held her closer. “Yes Aaron?” “Umm, I was getting a little thirsty out there. Sorry.” Finding his brother kissing this strange girl was not what he had expected when he came in the house. Aaron didn’t quite know where to look. “Umm, is anyone else getting hungry? I know we had a big breakfast, but I’ve been out there for like 2 hours playing b-ball, and I’m starving.” As if on cue Aaron’s stomach growled, and all three laughed.
