Defining hardcore is not easy. It is a topic with many different meanings. What is hardcore to one may not be hardcore to another. Some may call hardcore what others would swear is punk rock. On a recent radio broadcast/interview(1997) Dan actually compares the song "seven" to the band "Neurosis." If you know anything about "Neurosis" (assuming that you do), you know they are like "deathy hardcore" with lots of loud, screaming vocals. Dan admits that the influence for "seven " was from a certain riff in a "Neurosis" song. It is clear from his contributions to the band that Dan's influences are more "hardcore" than Jermey's, per se. Admittedly, when listening to Jeremy's voice(in Lp2 or solo) you hear the softer sounds which veer away from the whole "hardcore" thing. If anyone, Dan is the one who always pushed the most for a more raw, dark hardcore edge to Sunny Day.....
