CONCACAF QUALIFIERS

35 nations are participating in CONCACAF Qualifiers
3 nations will qualify directly and a fourth nation will play PO matches with a nation from OFC to qualify

CONCACAF is playing the Qualifiers with a totally new format.
There will be two routes:
Top Seeded Teams' Route - 6 team round robin tournament - 3 team qualify to 2022 World Cup Finals
Lower Seeded Teams' Route - 29 teams play a Group Stage followed by a Knockout stage to decide the team to play the Intercontinental PO

TOP SEEDED TEAMS ROUTE

6 teams play a round robin tournament. Top 3 in the group qualify to 2022 World Cup Finals. The fourth placed team qualify to the Confederation Play-offs

The teams will be selected according to June 2020 FIFA Rankings

LOWER SEEDED TEAMS ROUTE

29 teams play in 8 groups. Group winners proceed to the Knock-out stage.

GROUP STAGE

5 of 8 groups will play with four teams and 3 of 8 groups will play with three. 8 Group winners proceed

KNOCK-OUT STAGE

8 teams play the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and the Final in two-legged elimination style. The winner proceeds

CONFEDERATION PLAY-OFFS

Lower Seeded Teams' Route winner play PO with the fourth placed team at Top Seeded Teams' Route

INTER-CONFEDERATION PLAY-OFFS

The Confederation PO winner play PO with a team from AFC, CONMEBOL, or OFC Confederation. The winner qualify to 2022 World Cup Finals
