bulletColin Sneddon was with the American Lawn Bowling Association during their 1957 British Isles Tour, and he donated the trophy on his return to the USA
bulletThe trophy, a replica of the Statue of Liberty, was one of the first open tournaments to be played for in Stirling, and the first in the Cambusbarron club.

The Americans played matches against the Cambusbarron club on the 10th June 1957 and  against the Stirling County on 2nd July 1957

This plaque has pride of place in our clubhouse and the inscription reads:

"In Memory of John "Colin" Sneddon     1903 - 1974

As a young adult, Colin Sneddon left Cambusbarron, Scotland and emigrated to the United States.  He often returned to his native Scotland and it was on one of those visits that he donated the Sneddon Trophy to the Cambusbarron Bowling Club.  

Throughout his years as a bowler he won championships in all categories.  His most outstanding accomplishments were:

1963 and 1968    United States National Championship

1963                    Western Ontario Canadian Championship

                            Detroit East Side Lawn Bowling Club President

Inducted - Nov 20, 1974    Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame

Donated by his daughters Christine Overfield and Elizabeth Grahl 1986"
