The
trophy was gifted in 1954 by Robert P Gall, a former member of the Cambusbarron
Club, who at that time was president of the Stirling Club which was celebrating
its centenary.
Robert
(Bob) started playing bowls when only 19 years old at the Cambusbarron green in
1906 and went on to win the championship on three occasions before joining the
Stirling Club in 1923.
During
his 51-year association with the Stirling Club, Bob held the position of
treasurer (1934-43) and of president (1946).
He
also won the championship five times. He
eventually became an Honorary Member.
In
1962 Bob was elected as Scottish Bowling Association Councillor for the Stirling
area and held that office until 1972. He was made a Life Member in 1973.
