MOODY BLUES

"Nights in White Satin"

Formed in Birmingham, England 1964 by keyboardplayer Mike Pinder, flutist Ray Thomas, drummer Graeme Edge, guitarist and singer Denny Laine and bassist Clint Warwick. The band were originally an r&b band, but in 1965 they had a big hit with the ballad "Go Now"
Laine and Warwick left around 1966 to be replaced by singer and guitarist Justin Hayward and bassist John Lodge. This new line-up introduced the mellotrone which completely changed their sound. They began writing classical inspired music and with especially Hayward´s melodic and catchy songwriting they achieved an enormous popularity and scored several single-hits and their albums sold extremely well throughout the 1970´s.
After a pause in the middle 70´s the band began recording again with Mike Pinder replaced by Patrick Moraz.
In the 1990´s the intervals between their records grew bigger with Hayward and Lodge as key members. The latest release "Strange Times" was released in 1999.

Denny Laine: Born 1944. Composer, vocals, guitar. Laine was the biggest profile in the original Moody Blues line-up. He later joined Paul McCartney´s Wings

Mike Pinder: Born 1941. Keyboards and founder member. Pinder played a big part in creating the classic 1967-72 Moody Blues sound

Ray Thomas: Born 1941. Flute and vocals . Original member and part of the classic line-up

Graeme Edge: Born 1941. Drums. Original member and part of the classic line-up.

Clint Warwick: Born 1940. Bass. Original memeber. Left in 1965

Justin Hayward: Born 1946. Guitar and vocals. Joined in 1967 and a key member in the classic line-up

John Lodge: Born 1945. Bass. Joined in 1967 and a key member in the classic line-up

Patrick Moraz: Keyboards. Joined in 1978
