Biography:

Danny Federici was born on January 23rd, 1950 in Flemington (New Jersey/ USA), where he also grew up.

Although Federici came from northern New Jersey, by the late 1960s he was part of the community of musicians playing at the Upstage Club in Asbury Park. His first band, the "Storytellers", also featured Bill Chinnock. Danny then moved on to the "Downtown Tangiers Band", which included drummer Vini Lopez.

In 1969, Danny joined Bruce's band "Child" which was later renamed "Steel Mill". After the band broke up, Danny became a member of two more, short-lived, Bruce bands called "Dr. Zoom and The Sonic Boom" and "The Bruce Springsteen Band". When Bruce received a recording contract from Columbia Records and put together another band, Danny became a member of what would eventually be called "The E-Street Band".

After The E-Street Band broke up, not much was heard from Danny who'd always been among the more self-effacing members of the band (Bruce often introduces him as "the mysterious Dan Federici" or "Phantom Dan — now you see him, now you don't")
Danny did play occasional sessions.

In 1995, Danny joined Bruce and the rest of The E-Street band in order to record a few new tracks for "Greatest Hits"

Danny played some keyboard on Bruce's "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" but Bruce went on a solo tour in order to support the album.

In 1997, Danny surfaced with his own solo album "Flemington" named after his birthplace (It was reissued with one extra track as Danny Federici in 2001.)

When the Reunion Tour started in 1999, Danny joined Bruce and the rest of The E-Street Band on tour. He was also present for "The Rising Tour" in 2002-2003.

No other (with The E-Street Band) plans for the future are known although many people, including I, hope that Bruce will come out with a new album very soon and take Danny and the rest of the band out on tour again...
