AM A VETERAN
I am a veteran
But there
is no parade for me
Not many know
the war I've fought
I never let
eyes see
My war was
fought alone
The battle
long ago
The scars
I now carry
Have taken
their toll
My battle
cheated me
Out of things
I once loved so
My memories
of my war
I started
to fight so long ago
My scars are
hidden
Deep inside
of my heart
For the war
I battled alone
When my child
and I had to part
I am a veteran
I am a parent
too
I hope the
war I battle
Never happens
to you
But if it
does one day
And you need
me, I'll be there
For I know
the scars that you
Will carry
everywhere
