~MY
MOTHER~
When I was
very little
And I could
not see
I didn't know
my mother
Didn't look
like me
Our eyes and
hair were different
Our noses
were too
But I knew
she was my mom
And she knew
it too
When I was
around two years old
She had this
great big book
She'd read
to me stories
About how
different people look
I remember
the book was called
Is your mommy
different than you?
I really didn't
understand
She was talking
about me and her too
It wasn't until
I was about three
My mom used
to sing
And sing this
song about "different"
But always
belonging as one
It wasn't until
I was a little older
That I began
to understand
That mom didn't
carry me in her body
But in her
heart as she had planned
So I now know
my mom and I
Are different
as night and day
But I am thankful
she adopted me
And in mom's
heart I will stay
I once thought
I was "different"
But now I
know I'm not
Because mom
raised me all my life
And she's
the only mom I've got
So mom I just
wanted to say thank you
On this year's
Mother's Day
And even though
we still look "different"
I wouldn't
have it any other way.
Love,
Your Child

I'm short,
her hair is dark, mine is lighter, her eyes are brown,
mine are hazel...she
plays a trumpet, I can't even read music......
