~ON
THE EVE~
On the eve
of our last day
Memories flood
through my head
Remembering
so long ago
The cute things
you said
Buying your
costume
Watching your
eyes shine
Hugging you
and thinking
This child
is all mine
How wrong I
was
On that day
long ago
When the angels
called for you
And took you
to your new home
How long ago
it was
Yet in mind,
just a little while...
That I was
hugging and kissing you
And watching
you smile
You wanted
to be a ghost
And yell "BOO"
at everyone
When I took
you costume shopping
You and I
had so much fun
Every year
since then
I've searched
many crowds
Looking for
a little ghost
With a cute
little smile
Remembering
our last year
Just before
Halloween came
Remembering
a costume
That's still
packed away
So many memories
Flood my old
mind
Wishing there
were miracles
And I could
go back in time
