~WHY ME~

Sometimes I sit and think so much
About the changes I have seen
And I can't help but ask
God, why me?

And then I think if not me
Who would I wish this happened to
Who on earth would I wish
That they'd lose their child too?

I can't think of anyone
I guess because I know the pain
And I know the tears of silence
That fall like a summer rain

And yet when I think
How much I love my child
I can't help but think
Couldn't I have kept him for a little while?

Why me crosses my mind
When nights are hard to get through
And yet knowing the pain
I'd not wish this on anyone I knew

Sometimes I have to just sigh
When these thoughts go through my head
But it still hurts for me to say
My child isn't alive, he's dead

Sometimes I look around me
And see some who just don't care
That's when I ask Why Me?
Because to me, it's not fair

Why me?  Why me?  Why me?
Maybe I'll always question why
But in my heart I'll always wish
That my child didn't have to die.
