The blue dragon that you were riding glides through the invisible roof of the Sands. Strangely, nothing passes through it except for you and the dragon, and you find it much cooler inside the Sand's bowl. The blue backwings, giving a perfect landing, and as you dismount, you find yourself under the inspection of a magnificent ivory!
Her emerald glistens, the black ribbon choker about her neck signifying that she is the current queen on the hatching grounds. She lowers her large head so that her neutral-black eyes stare straight into yours.
Hello! I am Xienth. Welcome to my Sands!
You jump back in surprise. The voice in your head has a high, excited tone to it, and it most definately was not yours!
What is wrong? Have I startled you, little human? Her eyes get red sparks in them, a sign of excitement. You explain that you've only had a dragon mind-speak to you once before. And you've never heard of a queen being so polite to a visitor, or, for that matter, so apologetic! The dragon quickly displays a draconic grin, her eyes turning blue with pleasure.
Yes, but my eggs are looking for little humans to stand before them and, she says as stands and turns, looking over her shoulder at you, you are no egg thief. With that statement, she dissapears into the Hatching Bowl, and you just barely catch a glimpse of a large clutch of eggs. Before you can follow her, the blue dragon that gave you a lift snorts mentally.
She may be nice, little human, but I wouldn't push it that far. Unless you want to give the vultures human-toast for breakfast. He looks skyward.
N'rick calls! And with that, he takes off, leaving you to call a thanks to Thruarnath and wonder how you're to go about getting home. About that time, you hear someone cough, and you spin around.
A young woman of above average hieght stands before you, hands on hips, tapping her foot in annoyance. Her green eyes are narrowed, her long, straight brown hair going slightly past the knees, and her long fingers bare one ring, with the symbol of Oceanside engrave on it.
"And what do you think you're doing? Standing there acting deaf and dumb! I may be new at this, but I do not tolerate sloth from the candidates!" Her eyes narrow even more.
"But... I'm not a candidate... And... I'm lost... Who are you?" The woman blinks in surprise, dropping her hands.
"You're.. Not a candidate? Lost? Shells! Oh, I'm so sorry! I should've known you were new here! I mean, where's your Sand's symbol?" She pauses.
"You're not an egg thief, are you? Not that you would tell me anyway.."
"No, Xienth mentioned something about that..." Her eyes go wide with shock.
"Xienth!? Gracious! She actually talked to you? Oh my.. I'm so sorry; forgive me? Oh, I didn't know! I didn't..." She takes a deep breath and starts over.
"My name is Sarnah, candidate leader and rider of brown Jactoth. And I haven't been doing it for very long, my nerves are a little frazzled." She grins.
"Candidates have a way of 'breaking in' newcomers, I guess you can say." She giggles, and you relax a bit.
"Really, I'm not as hideous as I just made myself seem." You nod and take in her words.
"Wait a minute... Aren't you the creator?" She laughs at your confusion.
"You could come with me to my weyr and you could ask me some questions. How about that?" You consider her offer, but politely decline.
"Yes, well, I could understand." She gives you a gentle smile.
"Here, I'll show you around a bit." She waves her hands to include the entire Sands.
"We have the Hatching Grounds, but Xienth just laid her eggs yesterday and would likely kill us if we went in. The only beings she's letting in at the moment are her rider, Nerisha, her mate, Ianth, and his rider, Conrin. We have candidates and prospects on the fourth floor, greens and blues on the third floor, browns, reds, and oranges on the second floor, and golds, whites, and bronzes on the first. I can take you down the hall to the pegflit hatching, where you can impress a pegflit, the storage room, where you could take some supplies, the kitchens, where you could get some food, or the lower caverns where the terras reside. But, most of these are off limits for some reason or another. Our sands are quite new, and we're just building." You think through the options carefully and tell her where you wish to go.
