On-Line Honors Study Topic Research
Use the internet to complete a paper related to the Honors Study Topic. One paper may be selected to submit to the International Headquarters in the Freeman Science Competition

Aunt Mary's Storybook
Aunt Mary's Storybook is a program which allows incarcerated parents to read stories to their children on audiocassettes and give the books and tapes to their children. We take donations of new books, cassettes, and tape recorders. Please bring them to Union Hall room 053.

Faith Mission
Bring in new toiletry items (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, etc.) to donate to the homeless and less fortunate.  Please bring them to Union Hall room 053.

School Supplies
Bring in new school supplies to donate to area children in need.  Please bring them to Union Hall room 053.

Dress for Success
We are currently teaming up with Faith Mission's Dress for Success program. This program supplies business attire to the homeless when they are applying for work. Once they get a job it will also supply them with a small wardrobe until they can buy their own clothes. We will be taking donations of business type attire. They should be clean, in good condition, and on hangers.  Please bring them to Union Hall room 053.

Children's Clothing
Bring in children's clothing in good condition.  The clothing will be given to the Theresa Dowd School for Homeless.  They especially need - winter coats, socks, and underwear.  Please bring them to  Union Hall room 053.

Ronald McDonald House
Bring in your pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. In 2000, the Alpha Rho Epsilon Chapter won the Ohio Region competition with over 150 pounds of pop tabs. Please bring them to Union Hall room 053.

Peer Tutoring--Paid
Help your fellow students while earning money and expanding your resume. You must have GPA of 3.0 or higher an A or B in the course you tutor, be responsible and work well with others.

Elementary School Tutoring
Help out an elementary school student succeed in their class work.  We are currently working with the Theresa Dowd School for Homeless children.  If you are interested in helping during their after- school program, please contact the office for more information.

Help with the Leadership aspect of Phi Theta Kappa. Some activities may include--campus committees, public speaking, and development of the Hallmark essay.

Once a Quarter

Graduation
Help pass out programs for graduation.  Please contact the PTK office if you are interested so that we can give you a parking tag for Vet's Memorial.  Graduation is always held on a Friday morning.

Caps and Gowns
Hand out caps and gowns to graduating students.  This takes place on the Wednesday and Thursday before Graduation, and usually runs from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Guistwhite Scholar Program
The purpose of this merit-based scholarship program is to enhance Phi Theta Kappa members' attainment of baccalaureate degrees. Each year Phi Theta Kappa presents 10 scholarships of $5,000 each. Applications are judged on the basis of academic excellence, service to college and community, and participation in Phi Theta Kappa.  There are eligibility limitations to this award.  Please see Phi Theta Kappa International's web site for more information on this and other scholarships available.

All-USA Academic Team
The All-USA Academic Team competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community colleges and USA TODAY.  This program recognizes scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of 2-year students. Please see Phi Theta Kappa International's web site for more information on this and other scholarships available.

In the Winter Quarter, Annually

Yearbook Implementation
Help with the Yearbook of Phi That Kappa. Some activities may include--taking photographs, layout, and design.

In the Spring Quarter, annually

All-Ohio Academic Team Luncheon
Volunteers are needed to help ushering guests to their tables.  A free lunch comes with volunteering opportunity.

Awards Banquet Implementation
Help with the Awards Banquet of Phi Theta Kappa. Some activities may include--mailings, the program, and dinner details.

This is a one day conference/convention being held in Mansfield at the North Central Community College.  Please check the Ohio Regional web site under Regional Events for more information.  Anyone interested in going is urged to contact our office as soon as possible.
