Call for Papers and Artwork:
The Honors Program of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania presents Postcards from the Future: The Chuck Palahniuk Project, to be held at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, April 6-7, 2001. Postcards from the Future is an interdisciplinary analysis of fiction writer Chuck Palahniuk, author of the novels Fight Club, Survivor, Invisible Monsters and the forthcoming novel, Choke. We believe Palahniuk's dark fiction, controversial philosophies and acute social commentary present one of the most immediate opportunities in American literature to understand the social and artistic climate of late-to-post twentieth century Western society. We invite research proposals, artwork and musical compositions inspired by any topics related to Chuck Palahniuk, his works and the 1999 film adaptation of Fight Club, including, but not limited to, the following:
This conference will include, but is not limited to, any of the above topics, especially those which pertain to the literature of Chuck Palahniuk or integral themes in his work. Presentations may be designed as individual 20 minute paper proposals or submitted as a panel, workshop or roundtable proposal. Please submit an abstract of 500 words or less of individual paper proposals. Workshop or roundtable proposals should include a one page summary with 500 word abstracts of each paper. Artwork or composition proposals should be 500 words or less and include a description of the work, the motivation behind it, and should note any special considerations for presentation or display. Please submit abstracts and proposals to:
