In July of 1995 he was given an honorary lifetime membership by the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club for voluntary help given over the years. A member of the Bowmanstown Vol. Fire Co. since 1967, he was a trustee and chief mechanic. August of 1995 he was given the honor of christening the new fire truck. Also at that time the Fire Co. presented him with a trophy for 28 years of service.
