Senior Army Instructor:

Col. Joseph Sudol

Colonel Joe Sudol is a United States Field Artillery veteran of 28 years of combined active and reserve service.  He is a Vietnam combat veteran, a graduate of the U.S. Army Command, the General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.  Col. Sudol was commissioned and received his Bachelor's of Science and Master Degree at Duquesne University in the school of education.  He has been awarded 13 service medals that include the Legion of Merit Medal, two bronze stars, two Meritorious service medals, Army achievement Medal, Vietnam service ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.  Col. Sudol's last active duty assignment was as the 99th Regional Support Command's Inspector General, responsible for assessing the combat readiness of all Army Reserve units within a five state area to include Washington D.C.  Col Sudol retired in August 1996 and became the Senior Army Instructor (S.A.I.) for the Beaver Area High School in September of 1996.  In addition to his JROTC duties Col Sudol is the High School Student Council advisor.  Col Sudol has had previous experience as a secondary teacher for thirteen years in the Penn Hills School District.

 

Army Instructor:

SFC. Michael Vild

Sergeant First Class Michael Vild is a United States Ordinance NCO with 18 years of military service.  As well as being a graduate of the ANCOC, the Air Assault school, the Master Fitness and Rappel master courses, SFC Vild has two additional months of 12b combat engineer and 77f protolem training.  He has been awarded the Meritorious service medal, Army commendation medal 2nd award, the Army Achievement medal 3rd award, Army Good Conduct medal 5th award, National defense service medal, NCO Professional development ribbon with number 3, Army service ribbon, Overseas Ribbon 2nd award, and the Driver and mechanic Badge.  He was also awarded the Soldier of the month and NCO of the quarter awards.  SFC Vild's last duty assignment was at Fort Hood, Texas, as the Divert Maintenance NCO responsible for 3 Battalions and 4 separate batteries safety, logistic and EPA compliance.  SFC Vild retired in July 1995 and became the first AI (Army Instructor) to start the Beaver JROTC with 12 cadets.  In addition to being the AI, SFC is also the Raider, Drill and Ceremony, and Marksmanship teams coach.
