We are the Regensburger's and we live on a 35 acre farm in Raleigh, North Carolina. We have many "pet" chickens, guinea fowls, turkeys and peacocks that were all roaming until we started having coyotes coming nightly inflicting mortal damages. Reluctantly, we were forced to lock in all our birds and decided we needed to think of a better way to protect them. We learned about the livestock guardian dogs (LGD) through our vet and knew that was the solution to our coyote problemm. However, selecting the right breed of LGD was not as easy as anticipated. That's where Tim came into the picture and put my doubts and questions in focus. He patiently described all the attributes of the Pyrenees and assured us that the Pyrenees temperament would work best for our situation. Since we have small kids and horse boarders that come to our farm, it was important to us that our LGD is people/kids friendly, but at the same time fiercely protective over our livestock. Tim's informative guidance helped us make the right decision.
We drove to his farm and hand picked our pup when he was 7.5 weeks old. Ivan is now 4.5 months old and we adore him. We have always had many dogs, but Ivan has been one of the easiest pup we ever had. He is smart and laid back and very affectionate. Ivan gets along great with our other dogs and cats. He is learning to play not so rough with the birds, but then again, he is still a baby. We have high expectations for him and we are confident that he'll live up to all of them. I look forward to when Ivan is old enough to start looking after the birds independently and we can once again have all of them out and about.
We recommend Tim and the breed, especially if you have land and livestock.
Sincerely
