(Same as base chain.)
(Note: The backward stitch is worked EXACTLY like the BAS stitch.......the ONLY difference is you are inserting the hook in the vertical loop in the BACK rather than the front.)
Row 1: BAS.
Row 2: Keeping yarn in back of work, insert hook into the BACK vertical loop*, yarn over, pull up a loop, continue across work keeping all loops on hook. (Return as in BAS)
Repeat Row 2 for pattern.
* Back vertical loop: When you do the BAS, you will have a vertical loop....one strand in front, the other in the BACK of the work. You will insert your hook into the loop that is on the wrong side of the work while the right side is facing you.
