PGSM - Act Thirty-Four

Luna gives the intro this time. She reports that Ami and Rei are both having family troubles.
Flash back to Ami walking alone down the street, and Rei alone at her mother's grave, remembering when her mother was in the hospital. She starts to cry.

We leave Rei crying and go to the upbeat theme song

Rei packs a bunch of her clothes into a bag and then gazes at the picture of her mother.

At Crown, Usagi, Makoto and Luna are wondering why the flower youma from the previous episode was just after Rei. Maybe the youma wants revenge.
They decide to look after Rei.
Luna adds that Ami has been incommunicado for the past day also. Could she have run away?
They have to look after Ami as well.

Just as Usagi and Makoto are about to split up to look for their friends, Rei walks in with her bag. She tells the other two that she's going to stay at Crown for awhile, to avoid her father.
Makoto decides that she's going to bring food for Rei, as long as she's staying at Crown.

In the purple Dark Kingdom, Beryl tells Jadiete to target Mamoru instead of the Princess. When Jadiete asks if she means Endymion she rounds on Jadiete and tells him not to think too much.

Mamoru goes home and hears piano music.
By now he's somewhat used to this, so he automatically looks around for Zoisite.
Wherever there is piano music, Zoisite can't be far behind.

The white shitennou is thrilled that Mamoru has decided to accept his past. He starts to warn Mamoru about Usagi, but Mamoru changes the subject. He wants to know more about the past. Zoisite says that he will start to remember everything now, but that he needs to be careful.
The music stops, and Zoisite vanishes.

Makoto arrives with a large box of food for Rei. She drops it off, and then goes home. Even though Makoto and Rei haven't been the best of friends, they're getting much closer.
Alone now, Rei leans on the green chair thoughtfully.

Motoki is wrapping the scarf Makoto gave around his turtle bag. She asks if she can borrow a room, and he offers to let her into the lounge.

Rei is playing with paper cranes. She looks bored.
Then Ami walks in. They look surprised to see each other.

Ami decides to spend the night at Crown too. She ran away from her mother before going to the interview. This is the first time that she has ever disobeyed her mother, and she isn't sure how to disagree with her now.
Rei is impressed that Ami can talk to her mother about things, all Rei ever does is fight with her father.

They sit there for awhile before they decide to have a little party. Makoto has made them enough food.

Ami sent a text message to her mother. She needs to think about things, and she will return home soon. Her mother stares at the blank message board and remembers when Ami was little, when she decided that she wanted to be a doctor like her mother.

Back at Crown, Ami and Rei are partying. They use their cell phones to change each other's clothes - Rei ends up in a frilly pink dress and Ami in a gray sweater and black jeans ensemble.
They change clothes quite a few more times. Highlights include a samurai nun, a cowfgirl riding a whale and a baseball player.
Then they play with balloons, dress as animals, and have a fight will silly string before flopping down on the couch to rest.

Rei's father has a copy of the picture that Rei has of her and her mother. He pulls it all the way out of his wallet, and we see the rest of the picture - he's in it as well.

Ami's mother is in her daughter's room, and she's looking at all of the pictures that Ami has of her and her friends, and also through a photo album of when Ami was younger.

In the lounge, Makoto is on the phone with Usagi. She says that Ami is safe and sound with Rei, so Usagi doesn't need to worry.
Motoki sneaks in, sets a plate of food down for her, and leaves.

The next day, Ami and Rei are in much better moods. They head off their separate ways to go home.
A black limo pulls up in front of Rei's path. Four men rush out, apologize profusely and start to pull her into the car.
But this time is different. This time she says that she will meet with her father - in the church, and she willingly gets into the car.
The driver tells her that he's glad. Her father has been trying to come up with all sorts of excuses to try to get her to come talk to him - the interviews, the publicity stunts, have all been excuses.
Rei is confused by this. She flashes back to her younger self, alone and crying in the hospital.
Suddenly, as they drive past a field of flowers, Rei's sixth sense kicks in.

Makoto fell asleep in the lounge, after eating the meal that Motoki brought her. She snaps awake and calls Usagi, who sleeps with her cell phone.

Rei's father is at his wife's grave, waiting for Rei.
She slowly approaches, seeing him with the picture. She waits until he notices her.
He asks why they had to meet in the cemetery. Surely there was a better place to meet.
Rei isn't sure what to say.

Luckily, she's delayed from having to answer by the flower youma.

Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter know that Rei needs to have this talk with her father - so they'll deal with the youma. ("How dare you come between a hard earned talk between a father and child??")

Back to Rei, she asks her father why he didn't come to the hospital.
He says that he had to work. He left her at the temple because of work as well.
Rei isn't thrilled by that answer, but she doesn't explode at him this time. She just quietly walks away.
Her father asks her to come with him to lunch, She remembers calling for him when she was little and considers. Finally she tells him that with time, maybe she could forgive him.

While Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter fight the flower youma, Ami goes to the amusement park and watches the merry go round
She remembers one time when she was younger, she wore tiny angel wings and rose the merry-go-round, waving to her mother.

She decides that she has to tell her mother everything. Almost as if conjured up by Ami's thoughts, her mother is there.
Somehow, she just knew she'd find Ami here. They used to come to this amusement park all the time.
With wonderful timing, Luna calls Ami and says that the others need help.

Ami says she's sorry, but right now she has things more important than school - her friends.
Her mother just hugs her. She understands. She tells Ami to go ahead.
As Ami runs off, she looks at the picture again.

Moon and Jupiter fly spectacularly in the air and collide as they crash down into the grass. As the flower youma approaches them, Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury arrive to save the day (This is their episode after all)
All four of them attack together with fire, lightning, bubbles and pink light and manage to blow up the youma.

Mercury has good news - she's not transferring schools.
Sailor Moon is very excited, and she jumps into the air and cheers - this time the others do as well.

Ami sees her mother off to work - her mom is going to be gone for a few days. As her mother is leaving Ami calls out to her: Just because Ami wants to spend time with her friends now, doesn't mean that she does not want to become a doctor.

Rei is getting dressed in her usual red and white outfit. When she's satisfied with her appearance she's ready to go.
In the place of honor next to her bed is the picture - the whole picture. Her, her mother, and her father.

Mamoru is riding along on his motorcycle when suddenly someone collapses on the road in front of him. He skids to a stop and gets off, hurrying over to the girl. He carefully turns her over. It's Mio.
