  • Analogy of TIME

The Relevance of Time - Part One:

I woke up in the middle of the night. It had been a fitful sleep. Tossing and turning, comfort was not for me this night. What had caused all this nocturnal aggravation? Time!
How could time cause such a dilemma? Though it was not, that I had had a bad dream nor was it the uncomfortable position I had slept in, more over it was the thoughts that flew through my mind. Thoughts of Time, and how badly we have judged it's passage.
As the Human species has evolved, it has fallen prey to arrogance that may, one day, cause his very destruction. Humans think that everything, in the Universe, revolves around a human way of thinking. This disturbed me the most, all-night. Why? The answer is simple, if you "think outside the box." In and of itself, that term, "think outside the box", is the cause of man's arrogance. He asks that it be done, yet he is unwilling to do it himself.
There is only one constant in the Universe. "Things change!" Since change is the only constant in the known Universe, then all things are not equal, as man would have other men believe.
DISTANCE is a measurement, of SPACE, which in turn is a measurement of TIME, which in its own way is a measurement of CHANGE. The problem, things change at different rates. Some slow, others rapidly. It is in the change that time should be measured. Some insects live, but, 24 human hours, a long life, but to species that lives decades or centuries, just a brief glimpse of existence.
Man estimates, our Sun is over 4.6 Billion years old, as man reckons time. Consider a spark from an open fire; equate its life span, with that of the sun. When it winks out. Could one then equate that small period of time, similarly to 4.6 Billion years of that time frame? If not, why not?
    Think outside the box!

I watch the "boob-tube," the Television, and am constantly bombarded, by learned men living in a reality, within the BOX. The same box, in which ancient men found themselves mired. When the world was flat; or when they thought the sun revolved around the earth; or when the stars were, but, specks of light in the void of space; or when the concept of man's first steps on an other-worldly body in space, was unimaginable. All this, was a change in thinking, a change in time, a change in attitude for those who thought outside the box?
Now we find ourselves at the mercy of those, thinking outside the box, trapped in a larger box. "The TIME-BOX."
Time out! What am I saying?
What I am saying is, that everything we as humans do, and will do in the future, will have a "time constraint" relative to man's passage through time. It would only be arrogance to conceive passage through time is only available to men in man's terms. To any living organism in the vast abyss of universal space, for all things to change in mans terms, would be our greatest error in judgement. We must conceive a better way of reading "temporal change," and soon. Before change is upon us, and there's nothing we as a species can do about it.
