From Lust to Love


My early eager lust,
emotions you could not trust,
ephemeral
demanding
now enfolded
deep within the flame of passion
informed by your glowing beauty
radiating from within
till toe
till nape
a warm open smile
satisfies in that moment
the unquenchable thirst
to be at one with you
through the economic curves
rising or falling indicators
of our nation’s health
as children grow
and we both know
the flame of love
constant, we now trust.


Peter Tetro received a classical education in Montreal. He has been a sightseeing guide and agent, construction worker, federal program administrator, teacher/counsellor to native youth et.al. in many parts of Canada. Now retired, he is submitting poems written over the last 25 years that have remained works in progress.
