Bach provides the soundtrack for this dream.
Each note of his solo cello suite floats among the dust,
packing the room with the haze of an old photograph
or a vinyl with years of debris littering its surface.
I am staring at a woman.
The shadows pervading the room embalm her figure,
and all that defines her against the camouflage of grey
is chalk-white skin, obscured by a layer of torpid gloom.
She is staring at me.
Her tits are bare beneath a mesh overcoat, and the only
thing greater than their protrusion is their desire to hide.
They shrink deep into her chest like her heart,
throbbing red with the dim glow of dereliction.
Kelsey Upward is a fourth-year undergrad, graduating this coming May
with a degree in Music Composition. With a useless degree in one
hand, and a guitar in the other, she plans to...
