Chocobos
Chocobos are funny looking chicken bird things that are in Final Fantasy. Chocobo raising in Final Fantasy VII is a pretty fun and rewarding mini-game. For one thing you need to raise chocobos in order to get the Knights of the Round materia. You will be able to ride chocobos at the part where you first leave Midgar. Go North-East and you'll see a small barn. Here you can buy the materia "Chocobo Lure" from Choco Billy. This will allow you to encounter chocobos in areas with chocobo tracks. Right now you can only catch chocobos to ride and after you get off they'll run away. At this part you only need a chocobo to outrun the Midgar Zolem (the big snake in the marsh).
At about the end of the 1st Disc or beginning of the second you will be able to buy stables. These will allow you to keep the chocobos that you catch. Chocobos caught in different areas have different attributes. There are Dashing Chocobo, Walking Chocobo and Running chocobo. Dashing chocobos are found in the north part of the world close to the Icicle Inn. Walking chocobo are found near the Gold Saucer Area. Running chocobo are found near Mideel. You could also get different breeds of chocobo through breeding. Breeding different types of chocobo yeild different results. They also have different skills.
In Final Fantasy VII chocobo racing is also a big part of raising chocobo. To ride chocobos go to the Gold Saucer and chocobo racing. Then go to the left close to the phones and talk to Ester. Now you can race your chocobos! The more races you win the higher your rank will go. The highest rank is S. A tip when chocobo racing is if you hold L1, L2, R1 and R2 you can recover your stamina. Next I'll show you how to get a gold chocobo! This takes a lot of work and time, but it will allow you to get the best materia in the game!
