General History of the Pokemon Show

The Anime is produced, written and drawn in Japan. It debuted in Japan in September of 1997, two years after the Japanese Gameboy games and was, by all accounts, an instant success. Plans were quickly made for translating the episodes and games to English and showing them in America and other English speaking nations. However, the infamous seizure episode of December 16, 1997 (Electric Soldier Porygon), in which 700 kids were induced by Pikachu's flashing eyes into a epileptic fit, put a early halt to these plans. However, the English series debuted a year after the Japanese version, on September 7th of 1998

In the United States, Pokemon shows on the station WB! weekdays around 4:30 and weekends around 9:00 'ish. However, WB! often has random showtimes and is a little hard to keep track of. New episodes air every Thursday night at 7:00pm on TV Tokyo, in Japan.
