"So, was it exciting enough for you?" JC asked with a small smirk as they walked back to their boat.
"Yes, it was. I had a very good time and I thank you for that," Karis smiled, stepping onto the dock carefully.
"My pleasure. Let me drive home, though. I can't take two rides with you today," JC pleaded with her.
Karis laughed softly, "Alright Chasez, I won't make you suffer again. You can drive hom. Besides, I want to take some more pictures on our ride back."
"You already took 500 today, why more?" JC asked as he untied the boat from the dock.
"Because these are moments in my life I will never get back, and when I'm old and can't remember what it was like to ride home on the boat with Mr. Joshua Chasez, I'll be able to look at the pictures and see," she explained while digging in her bag for the camera.
"Well, I can't picture you old Karis, but the pictures will probably be good to have. Can you make doubles for me, too?" he asked while starting the engine.
"Ugh! I suppose," she grinned as they made there way back out onto the water. JC steered the boat back towards the port, often taking glances at Karis in the front of the boat snapping pictures right and left. He was amazed at how free she seemed, not having a care in the world. He knew there was something, though, something she wasn't telling him and he wanted to know. JC was so deep in his own thoughts he didn't even realize that she now had the camera pointed at him.
"What are you doing?" he asked, laughing.
"I've gotta have some pictures of my new friend I made, don't I?" she pouted. "Now just act natural like you were before." JC laughed shaking his head as he went back to steering the boat. A little while later the boat was back in its original home in the harbor, and JC was returning the keys.
"So, what now?" he asked, walking back up to Karis who was watching a two birds attack each other.
"How about dinner at the cafe in town?" she suggested, turning to face him with a smile.
"Sounds good, 'cause I don't want to cook anything," JC laughed as they headed into town.
"Me either," she smiled. A few minutes later they were being seated at a small table for two in a quaint little diner. The waiter came soon and took their orders.
"I had a really good time today JC, more fun than I've had in a while. Thank you," Karis smiled once the waiter had left.
"You're welcome, and so did I. It's weird cause I find it so easy to talk to you. It feels like we've been friends forever," JC said in return.
"I know. Who knows, maybe in some past life we were brother and sister, or lovers, or we could've even been some type of animal friends," Karis laughed.
"I wouldn't go that far but you never know," JC smiled, "Lovers, I could see that, though."
"Oh, could you really?" Karis asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Yeah, I mean, we'd make a good couple. We're both extremely attractive," he smirked.
"My, my Mr. Chasez. You sure do think highly of yourself," she said, tilting her head slightly as she looked at him.
"I was joking about me, but being honest about you," he said seriously.
Karis blushed lightly, "Well thanks, you're not too bad yourself, when you're not being cocky," she smiled slightly, as the waiter brought their food to them.
"They have good food there, better than most places in Boston where you would pay twice as much for the food," Karis laughed as they stepped out of the restaurant into the cool night air.
"Yeah, almost as good as mom's home cooking," JC joked as he looked out on the water.
"So, we should probably head back. I'm pretty tired," Karis finally said.
"Yeah, you're right, come on," JC smiled at her as they began to walk. They walked side by side through town and back to the beach. As they walked, JC slowly slipped his hand inside of her smaller one. Karis looked down, slightly surprised.
"Is that ok?" JC asked, seeing her expression.
Karis looked back up and smiled at him in the moonlight, "Yeah, it's great." A few minutes later they arrived at JC's cabin.
"Want me to walk you back?" he asked as they stopped in front of the walkway to his house.
"Nah, I'll go by myself, do some thinking," she said, smiling.
"Ok, well, I really did have a good time," JC said once again.
"Me too, wonderful," Karis replied.
"Goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow, I'm sure," JC laughed. He leaned over and placed a soft kiss at the corner of her mouth.
"Night," she whispered one last time before heading off in the direction of her house.
